PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has thrown his hat in the ring for Republican gubernatorial primary winner Kari Lake despite endorsing her opponent, Karrin Taylor Robson, throughout the campaign.

“As co-chairman of the Republican Governors Association, our organization is already active on the airwaves supporting Kari Lake’s candidacy,” Ducey said in a series of tweets on Saturday.

Lake was firmly backed by former President Donald Trump, U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar, the Conservative Political Action Coalition and the Arizona Fraternal Order of Police.

Taylor Robson was backed by Ducey, former Vice President Mike Pence and former gubernatorial candidate Matt Salmon, formerly of the U.S. House of Representatives.

The primary was a big day for Trump-backed candidates in Arizona as Arizona Secretary of State candidate Mark Finchem and U.S. Senate candidate Blake Masters both secured wins following endorsements from the former president.

Now, it appears the rest of the party is planning to pivot and rally behind the Trump-backed winners.

“We’re all big boys and big girls and we need to step forward and say that was a … grueling fight and now we come together,” Lake told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s The Mike Broomhead Show on Friday.

A week ago, Taylor Robson said in an interview on Gaydos and Chad that she would support Lake in the general election because she always supported Republican nominees.

In her concession tweet, Taylor Robson congratulated Lake and reiterated her support for all the state’s Republican nominees in the November election.

“I’m hoping that the governor will come in and get behind us and we’re going to do great things,” Lake said on Friday.

Lake will face Democrat Katie Hobbs in the Nov. 8 election.
