Anti-democracy state legislators are attacking our decades-old right to vote out justices. Tell them to vote NO on SCR1044.
Doubts about the ethics and impartiality of judges are at an all-time high. The power of voters to hold them accountable should be protected, not taken away – public accountability is a critical aspect of our judicial system. For 50 years, Arizona voters have had the power to weigh in on judges every 4-6 years, encouraging them to remain independent and impartial. Now, some legislators are angry because voters unseated three Maricopa County Superior Court judges during the 2022 cycle – so they’re pushing legislation to eliminate our choice entirely.
Because it is a referral, Gov. Hobbs can NOT veto SCR1044. It's up to Arizona voters to tell our representatives to vote NO on SCR1044.
