Urge your legislators to reject SCR 1022

SCR 1022 is a proposed ballot referral that would change how Arizona’s legislative districts are drawn, undermining the “one person, one vote” principle that has guided fair representation since the Voting Rights Act. If passed by the Legislature, it will appear on the 2026 ballot. Referrals cannot be vetoed by the Governor.

This measure is designed to shift political power away from communities of color and progressives—who make up a growing share of Arizona’s electorate—and consolidate it among conservative white voters. Rather than allowing fair representation based on total population, SCR 1022 would change the redistricting process to benefit a select few at the expense of democracy.

This is a blatant attempt to rig the system in favor of political elites and silence the voices of Arizona voters. Fair representation should not be up for debate—lawmakers must reject this attack on democracy.
