Republican Rep. Debbie Lesko rounds out Arizona's 3 Stooges of the Insurrection

Opinion: Testimony to the Jan. 6 select committee puts Republican Lesko, along with Andy Biggs and Paul Gosar, at one of the White House meetings aimed at overturning the 2020 election.

They’re not clever enough to be compared to Groucho, Harpo & Chico.

They’re not cheeky enough to be compared to Ackroyd, Murray and Ramis in “Ghostbusters” or rowdy enough to be compared to Cooper, Galifianakis and Helms in “The Hangover” or campy enough to be compared to Martin, Chase and Short in “Three Amigos.”

But they just might be daffy enough, and dim-witted enough, to be Arizona’s version of Mo, Larry and Curly.

It appears that we may be able to add Republican Rep. Debbie Lesko to her GOP colleagues Andy Biggs and Paul Gosar, rounding out our very own Three Stooges of the Insurrection.

Andy 'Mo' Biggs, Paul 'Larry' Gosar...

Late last week Politico reported on a deposition excerpt from the Jan. 6 select committee looking into the attack on the Capitol.

It is a part of the investigation that focused on former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and how, in the words of House General Counsel Doug Letter, “(Meadows) was not acting as anything like a typical White House Chief of Staff advising the President on official matters of government policy. Mr. Meadows was playing a campaign role, attempting to facilitate a strategy that would have reversed the certified results of the 2020 election.”

As part of that, the committee heard testimony from Cassidy Hutchinson, an aid to Meadows, about meetings that were held at the White House prior to the Jan. 20 inauguration of President Joe Biden. The intent of those meetings was to come up with strategies that might prevent Biden from taking office. Essentially, trying to figure out way to overturn a certified election. To stage a coup.

Hutchinson was asked who was present at one of these meetings, and mentioned the names of a number of Republican members of Congress, including Arizona’s Biggs and Gosar, each of whom has been long associated with the Jan. 6 events.

However, at one point, Hutchinson mentions that Lesko also was in attendance. She says Biggs as among the group, then is asked, “Do you remember anybody else who was there from the House or the Congress?”

... and Debbie 'Curly' Lesko

Hutchinson answers, “Mr. Hice, Jody Hice; Mr. Gosar, Paul Gosar; I believe Ms. Lesko, Debbie Lesko of Arizona.”

Nice.

Population-wise Arizona is 14th largest among states.

From what I can tell, however, we may have the highest number of insurrectionists among all Congressional delegations, and certainly so if we were to measure traitorous behavior on a per capita basis.

To which the great Curly Howard might say, “Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.”
